I haven’t watched this video in a long time. The first time I watched it, I did share it here, but I also expressed reservations. But I don’t know why. Watching it this time, I think it is very clear, very obvious, very charitable. This video is incredible.
I think the most important thing I got out of this video this time is that the Church is not calling the homosexual not to love, but is in fact, requires the homosexual to love. Love does not equal sex! I can love someone without having sex with them. I can love them deeply. I can love them to the core of their soul. I can love them so vastly that it my heart would die if they weren’t in the same room as me. God loves that kind of love. Only God can fuel that kind of love in someone’s heart. If we think that the Church’s prohibition on homosexual behavior is a prohibition on love, then we have a shallow understanding of what love is, and actually do not understand the first thing about love.
Whether you’ve seen this video before or not I urge you to watch again (or for the first time). Whether you love or despise Jesus Christ and Catholicism I urge you to let some of your tolerance and open-mindedness shine through and watch this video. It will definitely be 40 minutes well spent.
